With a stunning canal, a range of waterside homes and several architectural ruins that have been dated back to the medieval times, there’s certainly plenty to see and do in the idyllic suburb of Rodley and Calverley. Rodley canal might be a major draw for those that are passing through by boat, but there are so many landmarks to be enjoyed that you might want to book an entire week away in this lovely region.
What can you see and do here?
If you fancy learning what it was like to work in the mills then you’ll find several that are still functional; albeit renovated. If you prefer the social scene then the Crown & Anchor social club can be found on Town Street – and it’s suitable for all ages. Then there’s the Rodley Barge, a pub that’s ideal for families.
If you’re a fan of nature then the Rodley Nature Reserve was created back in 1999 and now plays host to dozens of species of animals that travel south from the River Aire, just above the region. There is even a sports ground and a monument to the First World War pilot Charles M. Maud for those of you that want to pay their respects to our fallen heroes.
Are there any salons in the area?
Yes, more than a few to say the least! Some have been in action for a couple of decades and are owned and operated by single families, while others have only recently popped up but are just as traditional in nature. You’ll find plenty to choose from – and thanks to the local railway station, they can be easy to travel to from outside of Rodley and Caverley, too.
Finding a salon to suit your needs can be the hard part, but as we’ve made a point of listing some of the best around you can rest assured that you will be one step closer to deciding when viewing our listings. We’re always here to help and offer advice as well, just in case you need it – so please feel free to get in touch.
